Surfaces not to be Painted in a Process Plant

Not very surface shall be painted in a process plant. Painting of some surfaces can be detrimental to the operation of a process plant. Following is a list of such surfaces which must be protected from painting.

  1. Porcelain
  2. Level Gauge Glasses
  3. Flow Meter Faces
  4. Valve Stem and Threads
  5. Working Surfaces of Equipment
  6. Name Plates
  7. Aluminum, Plastic and Stainless Steel
  8. Insulation or Fireproofing
  9. Galvanized Steel
  10. Concrete, Transite, Masonry, Stucco, Etc.
  11. Factory Finished Control Panels
  12. Factory Finished Instrument Cases and Meters
  13. Factory Finished Equipment, Including Filters, Control Valves,Etc.
  14. Factory Finished Buildings

Masking or compounds used to protect non-painted surface must be  removed prior to completion of the job.
